My wife and I have been to Las Vegas 5 times in the past two years. In the past we have stayed with friends who live in Las Vegas, but for this trip we decided to stay on the strip.

We left BWI on New Years eve on USAIRWAYS. The flight had one stop in Philadelphia. I used upgrades so that we could fly first class. The flight going out was excellent. The flight attendants were very good, the food was ok and the champagne got us in the right mood.

We landed in Las Vegas at approximately 9:00 PM. My wife's cousin picked us up at the airport and took us straight to a party at one of her friends house. Stayed there until after midnight and then we went to try our luck at the Sun Coast casino. Dropped about $80.00 playing VP. Spent the night at the counsin's house.

The following day (Jan 1st) we had lunch at a friend's house and then went to check in at the Flamingo. What a fiasco that was! The lines were extremely long and the front desk staff seemed to be very slow. It took us 1 hour to check in. We were given room 17095 which overlooks the tropical garden/pool area. The room was ok for a comp. That night we watched the Gladys Knight show at the hotel (very good show), had something to eat at Lindy's (not that great), and lost about $100.00 playing the $1 slots. Called it a night around 1:00 AM.

On Jan 2nd we met some friends at Harrah's and ate a late breakfast there. The buffet was good with a nice selection of food. After breakfast we walked down to the Barbary Coast and caught the free shuttle bus over to the Gold Coast casino. My wife won $95 playing Let it Ride and I won $500 on the $1 slots. We ate an early dinner at the buffet, which I had read about on the LVA as being one of the best deals in town. We weren't disappointed. After that we went back to the Flamingo, threw a fews things in a bag and then proceeded to the Aladdin to spend the night. The check in at Aladdin was very prompt, very organized and very courteous. We were given room 2691 in the North Tower which overlooks the Bellagio. The room was extremely nice and the view was fantastic. After check in we went next door to Paris to play some slots and listen to a fantastic band named Cat Daddy. Dropped about $100. Went back to Aladdin to play for awhile and the wife won $250 on $.25 Jeopardy and I won $200 on the machine next to her. Turned in around 1:30 AM.

The following day (Jan 3rd) we checked out of the Aladdin and went next door to Paris for breakfast at the Village Buffet. Outstanding!! After breakfast we walked down to the Venetian, the Mirage and Caesars. Spent most of the time window shopping and taking in the sights. Had dinner at Harrah's. Went back to the Flamingo and won $150 on the $5 slots, but dropped it all and more on the $1 slots. My wife dropped about $250 playing the tables and some slots. Went back to Paris to listen to Cat Daddy. Spent the night back at Flamingo.

On Jan 4th we checked out of the Flamingo. A friend picked us up to take us to breakfast and then we went to the Cannery, a new casino that had just opened the day before. I dropped about $100 playing the $1 and $.50 slots, and then I went to the lounge to watch football. My wife lost about $80 playing the VP, but she won it back at the roulette table.

Got to the airport about 2 hours before our flight and was able to upgrade to first class again. Arrived back at BWI the following morning.

Overall good trip. Flamingo was disappointing, Aladdin was very nice, and Cat Daddy was great!
