Just came back from 5 days in Vegas. Flew there via MLT on Champion Air and back on Omni. Both flights were good. The weather in Vegas was perfect! No jacket required for 99% of the time. Even laid out in the sun a couple of afternoons. Thought the MC was o.k. The casino is bright and not overly smokey. The room was just o.k. The furniture was a little banged up and the rug & drapes looked like they needed cleaning. The bed was good though. Chief complaint is that they close down the pool and outdoor hot tub at 5:00 p.m. which was ridiculous considering the beautiful weather. The rest of the pool area and lazy river were not open at all. The breakfast buffet was really good. Did not try their buffet any other time of day. Also ate breakfast at the food court 1x and would recommend that you stick with the buffet for the money. Did a lot of sightseeing and took in most of the free attractions between gambling at most of the casinos-each of which has it's own feel and personality. Loved the volcano at the Mirage. Also liked the water show at Bellagio, Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace, and the Lion Exhibit at MGM. The pirate show at Treasure Island was fun, but go there early if you want to find a place to stand. Planned to go see Lord of the Dance at NY NY, but couldn't get good seats on short notice. Would have liked to see the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandaly Bay and the Secret Garden at the Mirage, but had spent most of my dough by then.... Also couldn't summon the courage to go to the top of the Stratosphere or Eiffel Tower at Paris, but did do the VooDoo Lounge at the Rio. The glass elevator was not in service due to high wind that night! I was not impressed with World Carnival Buffet there. Too much like a cafeteria. Buffet supper was better at Mirage. Coconut's Ice Cream was not impressive. If you like french cuisine, the Village Buffet at Paris is good, but it runs about $25 and the waiting lines are long! Plan on spending $$$ on taxis or doing a lot of walking! Enjoyed the Coca Cola and M&M stores and also the Rain Forest Cafe at MGM & the Hard Rock Cafe. Yes, I also bought stuff there.... Walked from the strip to downtown one night. That was a long haul. I wasn't impressed with "Old Vegas" in the downtown area. The Freemont Experience was entertaining though. I also liked the 99 cent shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate. Played a lot of slots & won $300 bucks the first night on Fortune Cookie 5 cent machines. Also did good on Top Hat 25 cent Black Jack. All total I won about $400. Of course I kept plunking it back in! I did pocket my last $50 bucks to take home! Next time I'd probably try a room at MGM, Caesar's, or the Rio.... Probably the only negative experience was having to dodge all the low lifes passing out porno on the street corners and also looking at the debris of those fliers laying all over the place! I'd advise you to bring more money than you think you'll need. Vegas is not as cheap as it used to be..... Bring comfortable shoes, Band-Aids for blisters, and pack light! Overall, it was a fun trip!
